Technical Service Calls
McAlister Design & Automation wants to help you troubleshoot and debug your down automation.
We do our best to rearrange engineering schedules to come help our customers as quickly as possible, however a notice of 1-2 weeks is appreciated for scheduled field service work and equipment overhauls. Rates and availability will vary with industry and requested services and we do require a 4 hour minimum charge for all service calls.
We specialize in engineering support for:
• Robot programming (Fanuc, ABB, Staubli, and others)
• Robot Mastering, PMs and robot error recovery
• Servo Motion Programming (Allen Bradley, Yaskawa, IAI, Yamaha)
• Vision Systems (Cognex, Keyence, Banner, and others)
• PLC troubleshooting (Allen Bradley, Omron, Proface, Automation Direct, and others)
• HMI troubleshooting (Allen Bradley, Proface, Automation Direct, Maple, and others)
• Conveyor Systems, Pneumatic Systems, Hydraulic Systems, Bowl Feeders, Laser Marking, and Welding Systems, etc.

Robot Preventative Maintenance (PM) Programs
Fanuc Robotics recommends their robots receive professionally conducted preventative maintenance at least once every 12 months in order to maximize the life cycle of their robotic equipment. Preventative maintenance will also minimize the potential down time caused by premature component failures on production robot systems.
McAlister Design & Automation has a highly trained staff of field service technicians that conduct dozens of Fanuc robot PMs in the field each and every year for our customers. We offer this as a turn key service including all parts and labor. We do our best to be flexible with PM scheduling to minimize your production downtime.
MD&A Routine Preventive Maintenance includes:
• Purging of all grease in each robot axis.
• Accurate metering of grease back into each axis. Pressure is controlled to prevent over pressurization or damage to motor seals
• Using Fanuc approved grease materials to re-lubricate all robotic axes
• Replacing Robot arm batteries to keep the robot positional data (must be done once per year).
• Replacing Lithium Controller CPU battery to prevent loss of power (must be done once per 24 months).
• Programming and execution of an arm exercising routine to bleed out any excess grease as a further precaution to over pressurization.
• Complete robot backup of all path programs, data, and robot software.
• Checking the Robot Arm mastering witness marks for accuracy
• Mechanical and Electrical inspection of arm (Physical damage, loose connections, abnormal sound or vibrations)
