Electrical Engineering Manager Job Description:

Reporting into the General Manager the Electrical Engineering Manager (EE Manager) will be responsible for the daily operations of electrical design. Consisting of design, implementation, and documentation of electrical design systems for various type of automated equipment and lead the Electrical Engineering team. Including the ability to prioritize workloads, balance multiple projects simultaneously, work cross-functionally, collaborate with internal stakeholders and customers.

The EE Manager will be committed to employee development and engagement and will have the ability to develop and maintain strong teams. The EE Manager is responsible for current and future work and ensuring that equipment is designed and programmed to customer and/or MDI build specifications.

In addition to the strong leadership capabilities, the EE Manager will be heavily involved with all aspects of the daily operations and will be a hands-on electrical design contributor to the projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct supervision of Controls Engineers

  • Develop the Electrical Engineering department through leadership, mentoring, and training of Electrical Engineers

  • Manage staffing/Contract workload issues, including managing direct, indirect and overtime hours as they relate to workload, budget and timing that includes the monitoring and approval of departmental hours.

  • Design implement and document control systems for various types of automated equipment.

  • Conduct the electrical, peripheral device programming, machine PLC programming, coordinate the machine debug, power-up, and machine validation with the appropriate build, power and design teams.

  • Ensure that equipment is designed and programmed to customer and/or MDI build specifications using standard techniques and approach.

  • Travel to customer sites for installation and startup of equipment; up to 25% travel expected yearly.

  • Work cross functionally with all departments.

  • Ensure that changes and problems get documented and communicated.

  • Strive to achieve the highest level of performance from team members as it relates to their individual ability.

  • Support, promote, and execute company initiatives.

  • Provide timely customer service and warranty to both internal and external customers.

  • Communicate technical information and critical processes to the project team.

  • Manage the daily operations by planning the use of materials and resources while also considering other needs within and across the business unit.

  • Support the quoting team by giving input on concepts, hours, and material costs.

  • Establish and maintain a team work culture plant wide through leadership, experience, positive attitude, encouragement, and training.

  • Review performance data to measure productivity, efficiency, and utilization to determine areas that need improvement.

  • Drive process improvements in the organization and work area to optimize efficiency.

  • Set employee expectations, provide feedback, coaching, and accountability to insure employees meet company expectations as needed and during formal performance reviews.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety, on time delivery, and quality of our products.

  • Address current and future staffing needs along with participating in the interviewing process.

  • Conduct electrical engineering team meetings to keep the team informed of workload, hours, and company policy updates.


Qualifications:

• PLC- Allen Bradley: CompactLogix, Control Logix, SLC 500, Micro 800.

• PLC- Siemens: S7-300/400 Platform, TIA Ver15. (Not Required)

• HMI- Allen Bradley: PanelView, PanelView Plus.

• HMI- Siemens: WinCC Flex, TIA Ver 15 Comfort. (Not Required)

• Robots: Fanuc, ABB

• Complete Electrical Hardware design from concept to final build.

• Autocad / Autocad Electrical design experience.

• Servo / VFD Experience.

• Vision system setup / programming.
