Staff Accountant

Title:             Staff Accountant for McAlister Design & Automation  

Reports To:   President of McAlister Design & Automation

                        and CFO of Wauseon


Job Description:

McAlister Design and Automation is looking to fill a newly created position of a Staff Accountant. This position has tremendous growth opportunity, including advancement to Division Controller within two to five years. McAlister Design and Automation is a growing company with a 30-year history of developing and delivering outstanding innovative automation solutions for its customers. McAlister Design and Automation is owned by Wauseon Machine and Manufacturing, Inc., an Ohio based company, however the growth for this position is expected to be in the Greenville, SC. area.


  • Oversee all accounting functions and tasks, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines.

  • Practice consistent accounting policies and procedures across all programs.

  • Fulfill monthly financial reporting requirements including accrual-based reporting, revenue recognition, and inventory valuation in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Day to day cash management.

  • Oversee payroll.

  • Cost analysis and forecast for in process projects.

  • Participant in quote review for prospective work.

  • Assist in developing and continue to support short and long-term operational strategies.

  • Full administration of both Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions.

  • Participate in annual benefits cost analysis and review.

  • Key participant in annual budget preparation and comparative reviews through the year.

  • Maintain monthly, quarterly, and year-end forecast reporting.

  • Complete monthly bank account and credit card reconciliations.

  • Administer company 401k plan, deposit payroll deferrals, review and administer changes.


  • Bachelor’s degree in business, majoring in accounting.

  • 2+ consistent years of accounting experience.

  • Continued knowledge of finance law and regulatory standards (GAAP).

  • Strong understanding of detailed financial data analysis.
